Vodafone Group R&D and MusicStrands, to demonstrate conceptual 3G/PC intelligent music discovery solutions

February 9th, 2006 -Vodafone Group Research & Development (R&D), MusicStrands and Adobe, will demonstrate Music Guru, a conceptual prototype of a next generation 3G/PC music player. Music Guru demonstrates how music could be enjoyed and organized intelligently and automatically from both PCs and mobile phones in the future. Music Guru helps people discover new music and share tastes in music with others, demonstrating the potential of mobile communities based around music. Leveraging the unique MusicStrands Recommender, the prototype Music Guru enables automatic synchronization of music tastes across both PC and mobile phones, offering individually tailored music recommendations. Personal preferences can be set to explicitly guide the recommendations, with listening behaviors automatically teaching the system to adapt dynamically to personal music tastes. Music Guru will be demoed during 3GSM at S60 stand (hall 1, C22) and also at Adobe (Hall 2, Level 0, Booth E47a) and Nokia (Hall 1) stands.
"With Radio DJ already rolling out across Vodafone markets, we wanted to demonstrate how Vodafone is leading the development of mobile music by conducting research into its potential future", says David del Ser Bartolomé, of Vodafone Group R&D.
The combination of music discovery and community building in mobile devices provides some potentially amazing features for customers, such as playlist sharing, tagging songs, "playing" tags, knowing real-time what our friends are listening to, and many others, says Dr. Francisco J. Martin, CEO at MusicStrands.
